What the site does

Skeinote helps knitters and crocheters work out how many skeins of one yarn replace the skeins of another. It reads the figures the makers print on their own pages, shows the arithmetic, and stops when a figure is not published. It does not sell yarn and it does not recommend one yarn over another.

Where the figures come from

Every yarn record is copied by hand from the maker's own product page. Each record keeps the page link and the date it was read. When a page shows a value only as a symbol, the record says so rather than guessing.

What the calculator does not do

It does not say two yarns are interchangeable. It does not resolve gauge, fiber behaviour, or construction. It gives a yardage-equivalent skein count and the makers' facts, and it asks you to swatch.
